first welcome back!
You are not the only person who has come here in the past year or so with just about the same question---
the game is yes, 11+ years old and many have moved on, but there are also quite a few who have found this to be such a good game that they have returned with that in mind, I would suggest finding a guild to help you with your gaming needs, there are still many who are more than willing to help a starting character out.
I also know there are a bunch of people playing the game the 'original' way (eg, starting with prophecies, using only prophecies skills gained to where you are, using only weapons that drop, etc), while you may not be playing that way, you do have some of those parameters (only prophecies skills, no heroes), so that kind of group may be something you might want to seek out (I know for a fact that there are groups as I was part of one about 2 years ago!).
with that in mind....I might suggest monk as your secondary, however, remember you should be relying more on your primary for most of your skill choices.....as for builds, I would suggest heading over to our campfire and looking thru the warrior forum. (I'm not much of a melee person so I dont know any really good builds).

Without access to the main outposts, you'll find it harder to get into a guild that can give you the help you want. Head over to the Facebook group. There are plenty folks over there that can invite you to a decent PvE guild

In terms of stat distribution, I suggest you make your weapon mastery as high as possible and, if you're using the Sentinel insignia on your armor then make sure you have 13 Strength or higher. You can do fine without investing in Tactics or any other attribute, but this obviously depends on what build you want to play.
As for your secondary profession, you may consider these:
Elementalist for increased elemental damage, Point-Blank Area-of-Effect damage spells, and either more Knock-downs, Area-of-Effect snaring, or a speed boost.
Monk for self-healing, condition/hex removal, enchantments that can increase damage output, and some re-usable resurrection skills.
Mesmer for hex removal, enchantment removal, and many defensive stances.
Necromancer for condition transfer skills and enchantment removal.
Ranger for the ability to inflict poison, some defensive skills, or a speed boost.
Assassin for daggers, self-defense skills, shadow-stepping, or a speed boost.
Ritualist for skills with Area-of-Effect damage and some re-usable resurrection skills.
Dervish for scythes, the ability to do holy damage, or enchantment removal.
Paragon for spears, some self-defense skills, and a re-usable resurrection skill.
And, just a reminder, you can change your secondary profession in the Great Temple of Balthazar as long as you are Ascended.

I rewrote it last year so it's entirely up to date.

At least half of those ideas/recommendations are things you really really shouldn't be doing, or at least shouldn't be using your secondary for.
